Alphabet Inc. [NASDAQ: GOOGL] has disclosed that the CEO of its subsidiary Waymo has resigned from his position as the CEO of the self-driving startup. It has been disclosed that he would be replaced by a group of executives.
John Krafcik has led the self-driving startup for more than 5 years. The firm disclosed that he will serve the firm as an advisor in the coming days. Waymo revealed that the decision of stepping down from his position is his choice. Furthermore, he has made this choice after a long and prosperous career in the auto industry.
Waymo New CEO
Waymo declared that one of the founders of the Google self-driving car project Tekedra Mawakana, and Dmitri Dolgov who was the COO of Waymo will acts as the as co-CEOs. Additionally, the co-CEOs stated that they are dedicated to working together to develop, implement, and market the Waymo Driver.
Waymo was established in 2009 as a project within Alphabet’s Google unit. It is widely regarded as a market leader in emerging self-driving technology. Furthermore, Waymo is still struggling from developing large-scale enterprises. On the other hand, their competitor Tesla Inc has been selling its semi-automated driving system.
